James (Jim) Montemer, JD
Principal and President
Jim is a Principal of Wealth Advisory Group, LLC. His executive responsibilities include initiating and articulating strategic initiatives, corporate expansion, joint ventures, financial controls, as well as client plan implementation. Previously, he served as President and CEO of Integrated Wealth Insurance Services, Inc. – a life insurance planning firm founded in 1962 in Lakewood, CA. Prior to that, he served as an advanced underwriting attorney and was a corporate officer for a major U.S. life insurance company.
Jim has been asked to speak around the country on various topics such as split dollar defined benefits, charitable planning, and wealth transfer planning. He is recognized by his peers as one of the country’s leading professional planners. He has also taught continuing education for the State Bar Associations and Certified Accountancy Board (CPA) in the areas of trust planning, life insurance, and charitable giving strategies.
Over the past 40 years, Jim has worked with a broad range of clients from publicly traded corporations, ultra-affluent individuals and families, professional athletes, financial institutions, charitable organizations, trust companies, and privately held businesses. Jim served two four-year terms in public office in Orange County, CA. He served as the only three-year President of unincorporated Rossmoor, CA – the first planned community in the United States. He is actively involved in the community, donating his time to serve in various Los Alamitos Unified school district committees for grades K-12. He has served on various boards and been a active member of many organizations including as an Elder in Rancho Presbytery PCUSA, advisor to Forest Home Christian Conference Center, coach and referee for AYSO Youth Soccer, Coach and Board member to St. Hedwig Pony Baseball League, Board member of Californians for Nebraska booster club, supporter of the Los Alamitos Youth Center and the Alumni Association of California State University, Long Beach. He was co-founder of Cypress Futball Club, an elite soccer club in southern California.
Jim is a graduate of California State University Long Beach, where he earned his degree in Natural Sciences. He went on to Western State University of Law where he was awarded his Juris Doctorate. Jim is married with four sons and one grandchild.
